This is a condenser fan motor assembly that mounts near the compressor at the back or bottom of the refrigerator. It circulates air across the condenser coils to dissipate heat, helping the compressor run efficiently. Replace this assembly if the refrigerator is running warm, the compressor is overheating, or you no longer hear the fan running when the compressor is on.
Not so easy! The fan is similar to a computer cooling fan but has a rounded housing that slips over a round condenser coil. It slides into a shoe bracket at the bottom. It should slide out towards the back of the refrig by approx 1/2 inch then pull up and out. But the fan shroud wraps around the condenser coil causing you not to be able to slide. Ordered a new clip and installed it. Easy to do. Unplugged the dryer. Removed the front. It is only held on by two screws. Removed wires to the door switch. removed the female end (it had the broken male piece in it. Inserted the new female part in the front, clipped in the male part into the door and reconnected the door switch wires, screwed the front back on. Job done. Total time was less than 10 minutes.
