Liquid-filled balance ring mounts on top of the spin basket. Replace if cracked, leaking, or detached to restore smooth spinning and reduce vibration.
I found that the balance ring had popped loose from the top of the inner metal tub and had been scored so that the fluid was leaking out. So, I removed the metal shell of the washer, then the top plastic cover over the outer tub. I pulled out the old part and put on the new one. I had to give it a pretty good push downward to engage the clips and get it fully seated. I ran my hand along the inside of the metal tub to feel that the new balance ring was fully seated. This tub support assembly holds the washing machine drum in place and includes the spin tube for water drainage. This washer lid covers the top of your washing machine and contains the safety mechanisms that prevent the washer from operating when open. It houses the lid lock and safety switches that detect when the lid is properly closed. Replace this part if your washer won't start, the lid won't stay closed, or if the safety lock mechanism is broken.
