White Westinghouse refrigerator door was accidentally left open over night when it was humid, and moisture condensed on the interior. In the morning the arc fault circuit breaker was tripped. Tried letting the unit dry out, but it would still trip the breaker as an arc fault. Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap. Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Cleaned mold/scale off of as much of the door as I could while in there as well. Removing parts without breaking plastic tabs to hold the new parts was trickiest part. Read more

Just missed having decent ice trays. The only ones I could find were either: 1. Expensive 2. Flimsy - only lasted a couple of months 3. Silicone-bottomed that half the compartments leak after a few uses These are the wonderful old fashioned kind that are easy to use and last forever. Just didn’t think I’d find them again! Read more
