Ice maker not making ice or making loud ratcheting noise? This ice maker assembly fixes no ice production issues. Takes about 30 minutes to install.
The icemaker start to make a loud ratcheting noise and eventually stopped working. I was able to find the part on Appliance Parts and my neighbor and I replaced it. Two heads are alway better than one and he is much stronger than I am and we needed to take the freezer door off to complete the job. We also took the opportunity to scrub all the parts of the freezer down and vacuum the back and underside of the refrigerator - it was plenty dirty. We encountered another problem after the repair... Ordered parts to reattach the handle online. I ordered an array of parts totaling $60, including 2 nylon pins that may have been right and left. Ordered replacement clips. The replacements don't come with screws or the caps to cover the screws, so save all the hardware aside from the plastic hinges. You need to order the upper and lower halves of the hinges. The repair was very quick and easy, took about 5 minutes to attach the hinges to the shelf, and screw the shelf back into the side of the ice maker. Very happy to have the shelf back. Read more
