Followed the suggestions and washed off the wave guide cover first (it had some food soil on it). Put it back on and tried operating the microwave with nothing in it. Got a real big spark then. Discovered that there were some areas on the door that had paint scraped off. With no power in the unit I started to investigate. I removed the power cord and checked the supply. Then I removed a few panels from the unit. The parts are readily accessible and the wiring diagrams on the computer are very helpful. I removed the wires from each device and the probed the devices.
