Took the front panel off (the door front), disconnected the connector to the door switch and used a wooden clothespin to bypass the door switch. Turned on the dryer to locate loud squeaking sound and found it was coming from the motor area. Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. At first i just bought the belt, started dryer and off came the belt, and yes it was in place,looking at the idler arm it had a lot off back and forth movement so i ordered the whole assembly but the spring which no one has.put it all together again but drum barely turned.. so back apart and belt was in place. took the idler spring out cut 4 loops off it re did the end so it would hook on idler arm.and that did the trick.runs like new.
