Securely holds the microwave lamp for reliable interior illumination. Replace if socket is damaged, corroded, or bulbs burn out frequently. Confirm fit.
Our microwave is mounted over the range, and has dual lights underneath that light up the range. A while back in trying to replace burned out bulbs, one of the bulbs broke and in trying to remove the rest of the bulb from the socket, I accidentally destroyed the socket. We worked fine with the remaining bulb for a year or so, but it finally burned out. Unfortunately all of the replacement bulbs would only last 1-2 days before burning out again in the one socket. When I'd originally destroyed... Read more

Microwave stopped heating or makes humming noise before shutting off? The high voltage capacitor often fails first. DIY repair in under 30 minutes.
Main Fuse did not open, only fuse for high voltage section was opened. Prior to the fuse blowing a louder than normal hum was heard from microwave for 1-2 seconds prior. Easy fix is the high voltage capacitor, so first checked the voltage across the capacitor terminals to ensure capacitor was discharged. Typically should be reasonably discharged within 30sec-1min assuming drain resistor is still in place. Removed the high voltage cap, and checked the capacitance and did not get a reading.... Toggle bolt for microwave installation. Secures microwave to cabinet or wall. Replace if missing, stripped, or damaged during installation or removal.
Microwave won't heat or stops mid-cycle? A failed thermal cutoff thermostat is often the cause. This safety part prevents overheating. DIY repair.
1. Searched and watched several videos online about microwave repair/troubleshooting (thanks videos from RepairClinic, ESRepair, Tomahawk DIY, ElectronicsNmore and a couple others). 2. Second: gathered the tools: a Philips screwdriver sizes 1 and 2, (optional) a drill with Philips bit size 2 (to speed up lowering of unit from cabinet), and a digital multimeter (with audible continuity, mine is an economic Craftsman M/N 82140). In all, you will end up unscrewing/screwing the 3 bolts (securing... Read more
Microwave won't power up or shuts off after seconds? Failed thermostats cause intermittent operation. Test for continuity—straightforward repair.
Removed OTR microwave. Checked the thermostat switches while power was applied with a DVM. Noticed that when a certain set of wires was moved the slightest bit the microwave would power up. Traced the wires to the thermostat switch for the cavity. Noticed that where one (of two) Faston terminals was crimped to the thermostat switch was black. (should be copper colored). That is a sure sign of arcing from a loose connection. Since the specification for the switch was to trip at 248F degrees... Read more

This is a plastic fan blade that attaches to the ventilation motor inside the microwave. It circulates air to cool internal components and, in over-the-range models, helps vent steam and cooking odors. Replace this blade if it is cracked, broken, or wobbling, which can cause excessive noise or reduced ventilation performance.
The fan that cools the main unit had started making noise a few weeks ago, I tried cleaning and lubricating the bearings, but the fan would make noise when it heated up, then finally stopped. I replaced the fan, it was up and running within 20 minutes of receiving the parts. Read more
