This is a thermistor-style temperature sensor that monitors the internal temperature inside the refrigerator compartment and sends readings to the main control board. The control board uses this data to regulate the compressor and cooling cycles to maintain proper temperatures. Replace this sensor if the refrigerator is running too warm, too cold, not cycling correctly, or displaying temperature-related error codes.

Removed refrigerator panel, disconnected light and fan power. Removed fan assembly and replaced motor, grommets and fan attachment spring. Unit had adhesive on spring to help hold the spring. Chatted with customer service and clarified that spring and fan would easily pull off motor shaft. Adhesive probably was extra measure used during original build of the fridge. Ordered the pieces from here. Downloaded the user manual. I never work on appliances but I couldn't justify the $200 a service tech would have charged to fix a $35 part. Followed the manual and removed the door. Replaced the broken plastic pieces. BE VERY CAREFUL not to strip the screws. I did and that's another story. Very easy to fix. Wax motor for detergent/rinse-aid dispenser.
Took door off, saw that dispenser linkage was ok, I could open and close by hand, so figured the wax motor or the wiring to it were most likely the problem. I took off the wax motor ( actuator) and ran 120 volts to it via jumper wires, and it did not move at all, so figured good chance that was the problem. This repair was likely compounded by a second failed component after several unplug attempts. The first failure occurred after the freezer door had been left ajar.
