This is a 15 yr old Kenmore (GE) refrigerator with top mounted freezer... I knew, for awhile, that I had a DEFROST problem. That was causing water to collect on the inside bottom of the fridge, under the veg./fruit bins. And then occasionally run out onto the kitchen floor if I didn't sop up the water inside. But I delayed the repair because of the hassle of emptying the food, top and bottom, and finding temporary homes for it all. Until I noticed 3 things happen in short order. 1)The water... Read more

I replace the water inlet valve in my refrigerator about 8 months ago. About a week ago, the old plastic water line broke. I forgot how the water line connector worked and broke the valve trying to pull it out. I got a new valve and replacement water line, and it went in easily, just like the video said. Morals of the story: 1. Know how to remove the old plastic water line. I could have saved myself the price of a new valve if I'd remembered how the connector worked. Unless you have a really... Ice building up on freezer coils? Warm fridge but cold freezer? This defrost heater kit melts frost during the defrost cycle. DIY repair takes 30 minutes.
Inspected the Defrost timer and it seamed to be functioning properly. Ohm ed out the defrost heater element and it also measured out correctly (mine 34 ohms). So with the heater out of the circuit and not having an issue i ordered heater element from... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling or freezer has frost buildup? This defrost thermostat controls defrost cycles. Common DIY fix, typically takes 1 hour.
When I looked on the Appliance Parts Pro website it said the usual fix for a refrig that is not cooling is to replace the defrost thermostat in the freezer.
