This replacement part is a handle bar, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. Each refrigerator typically has two handle bars which allow the user to open and closed the doors effectively and efficiently. A new handle bar might be needed if the current one is unable to stay connected to the door of the appliance. It is possible that the screws in this part can become stripped and therefore not hold the handle bar in place. It is best to replace this part immediately as the user might not be able to open the appliance at all if the handle becomes completely detached. This repair is simple and should only take a few minutes. Using a screwdriver, remove the old handles and replace the new ones securely on the door. This handle bar cover is sourced directly from the manufacturer. This is a genuine OEM replacement part and is sold individually.
I purchased new handles, watched the instruction video, and installed the handles. This was for a 1993 GE Profile refrigerator. I love the fridge, but the worn handles looked bad, so I decided it would be a lot cheaper to replace the handles than to spend about $1000+ for a new refrigerator. I was delighted to see that APP.com had replacement handles in the almond color. It took me a while to get the first one installed because I had trouble removing the trim above the handle. Once I got... Read more
The handles were a simple fix. Just pop out the door trim, which I did by pulling on the very top and bottom of the trim to get it started. Then removed two star screws from the handle. I had to work the chrome plastic top and bottom handle caps off, then reversed the process for installing the new handle. The Recess/Dispenser was a bit more tricky. I pried the trim and control panel off with a putty knife, then the rest was fairly obvious, such as removing screws and wiring connectors. ... Read more
Color: Black.
The ice dispenser door was not closing tightly. As a result, there was frost build up in the ice chute, which also was allowing ambient air and temperature into the freezer compartment. Upon further inspection, there was black “schmutz” on the ice door, and the rubber ice funnel and deflector parts were deteriorating. Because the door was not closing tightly, I also assumed that the door-closing spring was week. The parts I ordered were: ice door assembly, ice funnel, ice deflector, spring and... Read more
Ordered a new tank from AppliancePartsPros and installed it. Install took longer than the videos on the website due to several factors. My refrigerator was not sitting in the middle of the room like on the video. It was not new and empty. Hose connections were not as accessible as the video. One hose had the quick release connector but the other had a screw together compression fitting. Hoses were harder to run than in the video due to the placement of the water valves. Other than the...
