This is a gas safety valve that controls the flow of gas to the oven burner. It works in conjunction with the oven igniter - when the igniter reaches the proper temperature, the safety valve opens to allow gas to flow and ignite. Replace this valve if your oven does not heat, the igniter glows but gas never flows to the burner, or you smell gas when the oven is turned off.
Replaced the old valve with a new one from AppliancePartsPros.com. I watched one of the YouTube videos to get an idea of what the process would entail. I gathered the tools I would require, plus a work light. The repair/replacement went pretty good. One thing the video I watched didn't cover was adjusting the valve for a propane system. I purchased 2 new light rocker switches, Because the heating element rocker switch was unavailable. First I removed the power source for safety. Then I simply pulled each switch out individually with a flathead screwdriver for leverage.
