This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart. Read more

I took the old Terminal block out and put the new one back in. it's about 15 minutes job. it was a really simple thing to do. I don't know why it always get the Terminal Block burn in every 3 or 4 months. I have to replace it all the times. I am very disappoint about the Electric Stove. The brand I have, is Hotpoint. I think about changing to Gas Stove instead soon. Read more

Turned off power to oven. Removed the oven door. Unscrewed and removed the metal plate. Pulled element off wires and attached them to the new element. (This took needle nose pliers and many attempts. Needed dexterous fingers and good eyesight.) Put everything back. Read more

My 1984 GE Electric Stove model number was very close to an another entry, but not actually in appliance repair pros' model numbers list. But my burners looked and measured the same for the near entry number, and the surface unit control switch looked very similar. I decided to take a chance and ordered 2 of each.. Isolated the problem to extreme frost build up on the evaporator coils. I measured an open circuit on the defrost heater/thermostat, so I ordered both. Following the procedure in the GE service manual for this refrigerator, I gained access to the evaporator in the back of the freezer section, and I replaced the both heater element and the defrost thermostat. • Little to no heat when broiling

I ordered a broiler element, watched the video and replaced the element when it arrived. I turned off the electrical breaker to the stove/oven. I then removed the oven door from the hinges and removed the 1/4" square head screws that secured the element in place,( the video showed phillip head screws ), removed the element wires from the old element. Replaced the element wires to the new element and reattached the element to the oven with the hex head screws. I then put the oven door back on... Read more

I first tried to purchase the part directly from GE but they were not helpful at all. Remembering that I had purchased a transmission and other parts from appliance parts pros for my old Maytag washer before, I searched their easy-to-use parts catalog and there it was!!!! I asked for confirmation from Customer Service and after 2 says Research confirmed that it was the correct part. We got the heater core kit. Unplug, undo two screws and pulled old one out. Looking at the old one, put the new one together and then mounted it back in place. Turned on dryer but no heat so unplugged it, tapped on elements, plugged back in and it worked. Not to hard. Read more
