Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Igniter in my ge oven lasts about 1 year   Robert W. • Washington , DC • October 24, 2014

After 5 igniter replacements, I've gotten pretty good at this. Less than 30 minutes start to finish -- including mopping under the range, etc. You need one hex driver for the whole job -- 3/8" I believe. 1. Remove all of the racks and the oven door. Remove the bottom panel inside the oven. Now unscrew the flame cover (4 hex screws), remove, and unscrew the old igniter (2 hex screws). 2. Pull the oven away from the wall. Be careful not to kink the gas line. Unplug the range. Remove... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Frigidaire gas oven model fgf366ecc would not light i first noticed things too longer than usual to bake broiler worked but main burner in oven would just glow orange and smell of gas   Christine K. • Thief River Falls , MN • August 02, 2017

I have used this site before to fix my dishwasher, so I knew to check here first. I searched other's comments to troubleshoot my problem. Ordered the part and it arrived in only a couple of days. I should insert here that I am a 45 yo female, so if I could do this, anyone can. I watched the video and proceeded to replace the part. For my particular model, I didn't access the part from the back, but instead through the underside by removing the bottom drawer. Total from start to finish... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No heat in my lg dlg5988w dryer   Anthony C. • Barnegat , NJ • March 17, 2015

I first ordered a thermostat and ignitor and replaced and that did not work. I asked Appliance Parts Pros their opinion in the chat and they said it was the coils in the gas valve but you had to replace the entire valve as the coils are not sold individually. So i ordered the part and also replaced the thermistor and drum belt while i had the dryer apart anyway! And this fixed the problem! These guys are the absolute best and most helpful i have ever dealt with. This is the second time i... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Two year old GE gas dryer stopped heating.   Harry H. • Valparaiso , IN • September 13, 2020

Changed ignitor. Ordered new ignitor by just putting dryer model number in the search box. When I opened the dryer up and took the old one out I was originally upset. The meter read 73 ohms. I was expecting OL (open line). The new one read 273 ohms so I put it in. Dryer works now. The install video’s are old. It was much easier than the video’s showed. Opening the control panel was a little trickier than the video. You do NOT need to take screws off the back of the dryer. There are 2 screws... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Burner on my jen air pro range rusted out   Frank M. • Providence , RI • November 15, 2014

After many years of excellent service the burner I use most often on the top of my JenAir range rusted through. After trying to remove the burner, which was firmly rusted into place, I decided to replace the cooktop pan, both burners and igniters. It was an easy repair to swap out the new parts for the old, and the only tool necessary was a #2 phillips screw driver. The only difficulty was that although the cooktop pan appears symmetrical, the screw hole pattern on each side is different. I did... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broiler igniter failed   James S. • Winchester , MA • September 26, 2014

Replaced the igniter, Simple but there are several points to remember. TURN THE POWER OFF 1) remove the oven door or you will have a hard time reaching the back of the oven. Mine just lifted off. 2) The igniter tip is fragile put a drop cloth over the oven floor in case you drop it even after it is in its holder. 3) The drop cloth will catch screws too if you drop them so they won't fall into the oven. 4) The cable from the oven is very short even after pulling it out from the hole at the back....
