This is a sheath-style heating element mounted at the top of the oven cavity that provides high, direct heat for broiling. It glows red when functioning properly and is responsible for searing and browning food from above. Replace this element if it no longer heats up, heats unevenly, has visible cracks or blistering, or if the broil function stops working entirely.

Searched the internet for a replacement and ordered it from APP and it arrived quickly. Removed three screws holding the original heating element in and disconnected the spade connectors and pulled out the old element. The spade connectors were a bit loose, so I tightened them up with a pair of pliers and re-installed the new element. Oven works great now. This is an old Frigidaire Wall Oven from the early 70's, so we were fortunate to be able to repair instead of having to replace. Read more
