The Surface Element is an OEM part for Frigidaire electric ranges and cooktops. It is the individual electric coil located beneath the cooktop that provides heat.
The surface element heats up rapidly upon activation in order to boil, simmer or saute foods efficiently. Its precise heating capabilities assist home cooks in meal preparation.
Causes can be mineral deposits caked onto the element surface over time reducing its ability to transfer heat properly. Excess moisture exposure can also damage internal wiring.
Symptoms of a bad surface element include:
- Burners that do not heat up at all or heat unevenly
- Lights flickering below an element when in use
- Popping, buzzing or crackling noises coming from below an element
