Heater Harness Assembly (Defrost/Evaporator Heater)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W11650662

This heater harness assembly delivers power from the refrigerator wiring to the defrost/evaporator heater, restoring proper defrost cycles and helping prevent frost buildup that can reduce cooling performance. What it does:

  • Routes electrical power to the evaporator/defrost heater so scheduled defrost cycles can run.
  • Replaces a damaged or burned harness that can cause the heater to not energize.
  • Commonly used when frost or ice accumulates on the evaporator, cooling is reduced, or defrost-related errors occur.
  • Compatible with refrigerators that use the OEM-style heater connector configuration.
What's included: One heater harness assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing to avoid shock or injury.
  • Avoid damaging refrigerant lines or other sealed-system components; if the repair requires access to sealed components or involves the refrigerant (R600a/isobutane).
  • Inspect mating connectors and wiring for corrosion or damage; replace any compromised components to ensure a reliable connection.

We did not install Defrost Heater Kit. Gonna see if we even need to? So far so good with just the thermostat. We'll be watching to see if back wall freezes up again. Read more
