Bad water dispenser micro switch on my ge fridge James G. • Melbourne , FL • November 23, 2014
After disconnecting power to the fridge, I first removed the ice maker/water dispenser/fridge control faceplate. This easily popped out using a flat head screw driver. Then disconnected the 3 wire harness connections to the control board. I next removed the plastic dispenser housing shield. There's only 4 screws that hold this on. Finally, I removed the Micro-switch, disconnected the two wire connectors and installed the replacement switch and reinstalled everything. The repair took only...

Replaced plastic housing for $100. Recommend buying the whole assembly though. Cost a bit more but you would be done in 15min. When you just replace the housing, you have to disassemble the old one very carefully to reuse several parts that do not come with the housing. A lot of fragile plastics. Plus, make sure you have GooGone and 3M thin tape handy; you will absolutely need it. Again, buy the whole assembly and save time and headache.

The Infinite Heat Switch Kit is an OEM part for GE ranges and cooktops. This kit is essential for controlling the temperature of the burners on your range or cooktop, allowing you to adjust the heat level from low to high.
Causes of damage to the infinite heat switch can include normal wear and tear from frequent use, electrical issues such as short circuits or power surges, and physical damage from cleaning or impact.
Symptoms of a bad Infinite Heat Switch include:
- Burners not heating to the desired temperature, either staying too hot or not getting hot enough.
- The burner not turning on at all, indicating a possible failure in the switch's electrical contacts or circuit.
- Inconsistent cooking temperatures, where the burner cycles on and off too frequently or not often enough, affecting cooking performance.
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Had previously replaced one burner control because the burner indicator light stayed on William A. • Dodge Center , MN • July 13, 2015
I replaced all 3 remaining burner controls because they were all original (mid 1970s GE electric range w/coil burners), and one of the controls occasionally made arcing sounds when cycling the burner on and off. If a control is making odd noises - more than just a quiet metallic clicking
as it cycles - it should be replaced.
I'm assuming you have experience with the tools needed and can do simple mechanical assembly or disassembly, but have not previously worked with electrical equipment of...

Knobs are weak keep breaking because the timer switch has a lot of tention to turn Tim L. • Ottawa , IL • August 13, 2015
I would remove the knobs from the other switches to replace the timer one when it would break until all the knobs were broken. My wife kept blaming me for being a brute but i swear i was gentle when turning the knob. i ordered all new ones and guess what...the new knobs are reinforced with a metal ring to keep the plastic from splitting. guess it wasn't shear brute strength after all and just a inferior part..
