This is a vent damper door used in the microwave's exhaust system. It opens to allow steam and cooking fumes to vent outside and closes to prevent outside air from flowing back in. Replace this part if the damper is stuck open or closed, if you hear rattling from the vent area, or if you notice poor ventilation or backdrafts during cooking.
