After unplugging machine I removed the knobs from the control consul. Removed three screws holding consul face plate from rear of machine. Moved faceplate forward to gain access to electronic components. Timer is located on right with one hold down screw which I removed. Lifting timer from mount location I removed wiring harness. Installed harness on new times and inserted into hole for knob. It would be helpful if front was market on timer. Installed screw and reinstalled consul face with three screws. Installed all control knobs except timer. Installed dial with arrow up and pushed control knob into place. Pulled control knob out and pushed in to set timer to desired cycle. Turned on and the washer worked. Read More... 10 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers

James T Syracuse , NY May 15, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Washer WJRR4170G2WW Timer went bad, worn parts Replaced the timer, ring and knob, however while removing the old timer, I broke off one of the retaining clips that hold the timer tight to the front panel. Had to rig up an alternative, put a screw thru the tab on the new timer and into the front panel. A little bit of the screw came thru the other side, but out of the way enough. Looks like crap BUT, its fixed and clothes get clean so victory! Looked at a price for a new front panel and it's way too expensive for a piece of plastic. With a new panel and timer, I'm better off buying a new machine. That said, should have been a 10 minute, very easy project, my own fault it took longer. Jamie M Willows , CA March 07, 2018 Appliance: Model WJRR4170GIWW Washer control knob stopped turning properly We ordered the parts as needed Was helped by the CHAT line. It was great. I paid for a two day delivery. The box came on time, except the Back splash was not in the original box. (That was a VERY necessary item. I called for the Back splash to be sent. We then realized we needed another small part. It came the next day! Still no Back splash! Another call was made. A representative said that FedEx broke it in shipping??? but she would arrange for another Back splash to be sent out. Finally, on Friday, March 2, we received the Back splash. We installed the parts that we received. All is working perfectly. It was nice to get parts that worked with a GE product. I personally think that your company thought I was not telling the truth about what was in our original box. All in all may washer is now working.
