Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The defrost heater would not work   John R. • Lumberton , MS • May 21, 2019

The refrigerator was given to me and hasn't defrosted since it was new. I found the defrost timer had a burnt spot on the circuit board. After installing a new timer, the refrigerator would trip the circuit breaker in my house when it entered defrost mode. I found that the pink wire running from the control board all the way to the thermostat was shorted somewhere between the two parts, inside the refrigerator. I ran a new "pink" wire and all is good. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You There was a hole rusted in the box burner   Charles H. • Avon Park , FL • May 08, 2017

I first DISCONNECTED POWER FROM THE RANGE using the breaker. I then pulled the range out from the wall to give myself plenty of working room. I lifted the range top up as when you clean under the burners. I then moved the ends of the bottom of the slide rods that lock the range top open back where they came loose from the top of the range. This allows you to fold it higher and have complete access to the top of the range. I then took out all the Phillips head screws that hold down the sheet... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You I had no cooling in the upper ( not freezer) section of my frige   Alexander M. • Gloucester , MA • August 23, 2015

I had had the same problem 4 or 5 years ago and spent close to $200 to repair it. I did have the slip from that repair with part #'s so I went ahead and ordered a defrost timer and thermostat. You-tube had plenty of videos on replacing those parts and even before they arrived I was able to add a switch and bypass the broken thermostat and start a cycle manually with the timer. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The refrigerator section was not staying cold as before and the noise was louder than normal   Stephen S. • Flagstaff , AZ • July 11, 2015

At first, I suspected the evaporator fan motor was going bad, but when I went in to check it out, I found the evaporator coils totally frozen up; the fan was cavitating. I defrosted the coils completely and checked everything out. By process of elimination the Defrost timer had to be the culprit. I unplugged the timer and sure enough, the motor winding was open.
