This time I replaced the front and rear bearings and thrust bearing and all the gears. The hardest part is thoroughly cleaning out all the old grease. After re-greasing and assembly mixer ran like new. I wish a more robust worm gear was available. A snap ring plier is a must for this job. Stand Mixer Professional Heavy Duty Bowl Lift KG25H7XOB5 Kitchenaid mixer was slipping gears I make a lot of bread doughs with my KitchenAid mixer, and it's used 2-3 times a week for large batches of dough. The gears began slipping, and I decided to take the mixer apart, and replace the worn gears. Replacing the transmission housings plastic cover, with the newer metal one will probably result in me not having to repeat this process, as the plastic one broke at the screw holes under pressure. Lauren F Harvard , MA December 08, 2014 Appliance: Model KP2671XGR The mixer was leaking grease down the attachment shaft When I opened it up, the pinion gear had worn away at the lower gear housing, filling the housing with metal shavings. I replaced the lower gear housing and the pinion gear. I had to adjust the brass sleeve/bushing that the attachment shaft slips through on the planetary. The sleeve had shifted up, toward the lower gear housing which was causing the pinion gear to ride too high in the gear housing. Using a wooden dowel, I was able to hammer it back into the planetary housing. John V Orange , CA November 06, 2019 Kitchenaid Pro 600 mixer was skipping when running under load I opened the mixer and inspected the gears as I saw in a few how-to videos. Some were clearly worn, and some I was not sure of. I ended up replacing all of the gears. The total time to complete was about 1 hour. My wife just used it this past weekend to make 200 cupcakes and it worked like new! These mixers are expensive to replace and pretty easy to fix!
