Richard M Arlington , WA July 21, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WTW8040DW4 When in the spin cycle the washer was very loud. I knew from the loud sound during the spin cycle that the bearings were going out, I ordered a gearcase part number W11455453 (AP6993918) which has the bearings, tub seal, and shaft altogether which makes the repair much easier to complete. I will say you should also order the spanner wrench it makes taking the spanner nut off and putting back on much easier also, part number TB123B (AP6832671). With this model washer, you don't have to take the tub out you just need to take the washer plate off and then the spanner nut off which holds the tub and gearcase together once that is done lay the washer on its back, I put two small two by fours down to lay it on so the cord won't get distorted. Now you just need to take the rotor, stator, and wire harness off the screw that holds it on is a Torx bit. Now take the four screws off that hold on the gearcase. You will need to use a hammer and hit the shaft from the inside to push out the gearcase it does take some force. Once it is out just put it all back together in reverse order. Be sure to note the order (color) of how the wires came off so you get them to put back in the same order. We ran a load of clothes as soon as I was done. Perfect all is quiet now. I hope this will help in your repair good luck. Jason W Kingston , TN December 05, 2023 Appliance: Maytag Washer MVWB865GW0 Bearing on the gearcase failed and caused some fatigue on rotor and clutch. We watched the videos posted on AppliancePartsPros.com website several times before starting the work. Once we were confident of the process, we jumped in with the complete disassembly of the washing machine's drum rotating assembly...everything that touched the drum or made it rotate. My son and I disassembled and inspected each part for wear/damage and ordered replacement parts based on condition. The parts came in within 3 days of ordering. My son and I took 3 hours to reassemble and test the washing machine for operation. It took 30 minutes to get everything together, and it took 2.5 hours to figure out how to get the drum onto the gearcase without damaging it. Once we figured that out, it was smooth sailing.
