The Microwave Door Switch is an OEM part for GE microwaves, designed to prevent the microwave from operating when the door is open by interrupting the power whenever the door is not securely closed. The door switch is an essential safety feature.
The first symptom was our microwave would continue to run after the time was up. This is a 25 year old built-in over-the-range appliance. Only previous problem was 1 failed door switch (of 3 total), replaced 2 years ago. Contacted a AppliancepartsPros tech. Told him what was wrong with my GE Microwave with range hood which is 24 years old. After trying to cook popcorn it made a buzzing noise and didn't heat food.
