Over time, an oven safety valve can become inoperable due to excessive wear and tear. If the oven is no longer heating properly, not turning on, or no longer working as powerfully as it once did, the oven safety valve will need to be replaced.To replace this part, start by unplugging the oven and shutting off the gas supply. After that, move the range away from the wall. Use a wrench to unthread the nut to remove the gas supply tube from the safety valve. Next, open the oven door to gain access to the interior of the oven. Release the hinge locks that secure the door and pull the door off the oven. Remove the oven racks and proceed to unthread the screws that secure the oven's bottom panel. Once removed, locate the safety valve. Next, unthread the screw that holds the mounting bracket into place. Remove the old safety valve and align the new valve with its mounting bracket.
