This is a pawl that can serve as a replacement for some mower models, as well as chippers and shredders. The pawl attaches to the ratchet pawl plate. The pawl is essential for starting the engine. When the starter turns, the pawl is forced outward and locks onto the flywheel, allowing the engine to start. When the starter rope is let go, the springs pull back the ratchet pawls. If there is damage to the pawl, the engine will not start.The piece is made from durable metal, and it is built to last. However, it can start to wear down over time.
