This is a stainless steel overlay insert that covers the front control panel area of a trash compactor. This precision thrust race serves as the hardened bearing surface for axial loads in a rotating mechanism. Replacing a worn race reduces friction and noise, helping restore smooth, consistent motion and protect companion thrust bearings and washers from accelerated wear.
I bought new thrust races, a drive gear kit, bearings and a sprocket. When the bearing went out, the thrust races, washers, one bottom plate, and a sprocket was eaten up by the the chain due to the slack being created. I followed the video for the Drive Gear Kit repair and everything went together well.
