If you can't pull out the displacement pins on the crisper cover support clips that allow the wall to carry the weight of the cover, slides and drawer, you may need to push those pins in (they fall down the wall) to remove the clip. I ordered a replacement part. Emptied the top shelf then took the shelf out. Flipped the shelf over and removed the screw holding the broken piece. Put the new piece in its place replaced screw. Put the shelf back in and then put the mean pan back on the hangers. Read more

Fixed it by replacing the electronic control board. Only 30 min. to fix. (See further down for effort to diagnose the problem.) Most of this "fixing time" was spent removing the control panel to access the control board that is attached to it. My freezer has the control panel located in the top center of the door.
