John P Enola , PA August 02, 2019 Appliance: Electrolux Freezer LFFH20F3QWB 21 month old Frigidaire upright freezer died. Noticed Rolls on the top shelf no longer frozen, though the meat around it still was. Note: This is a good test, keep something that thaws quickly and is not expensive on top shelf, to act as a barometer for your freezer health! I first found a trip online to advance the defrost timer, as a failed timer is a common issue. I advanced the timer, but nothing happened. I emptied the freezer, then removed the thermostat and tested it. No continuity! With the Freezer continuing to thaw, I researched what else could be the problem and narrowed it down to the Thermostat, Run Controller and Run Capacitor. In my error, I never tested the Defrost Timer. Since I had no continuity on the Thermostat, I figured that was the issue. I ordered the Thermostat, run controller and controller, from this site as well as another. I realized after this order that I would not get parts until Tuesday, even though I ordered on Saturday. The second place I ordered from said same day shipping, but I was not feeling optimistic. So, first thing Monday morning I drove 40+ miles to a parts store with the list in hand (including the timer as an adder). The only parts they had were the thermostat and the timer. I get home and replace the thermostat, and it still does not work. I replace the timer and it works like a champ. most challenging part was replacing cover for the defrost coil, as it is sharp sheet metal and the garage was very hot, so I was sweating profusely! Now being operational for 4+ days, it is performing fine. In fact, I find that it is running less than than before, which leads me to believe that the timer was bad for a long time. I could be wrong, but I recall the freezer used to run constantly. Now I am checking it periodically, especially when I do not hear it run. We only lost a small amount of meat, thankfully. Sad that this freezer was taken out of service by a $10 part, and less than 2 years old. I am grateful that I could fix it and save the cost of having a repairman come to the house (though I did try that route but could not get anyone, especially since the unit was out of warranty). Mitchell M Jackson , GA May 12, 2017 Appliance: Model LG LFX25971ST Refrigerator quit cooling First I have an LG French Door with a bottom freezer. It quit cooling. I went on line and watched some very informative You Tube videos. I trouble shot according to these videos. In these videos it shows that if there is a click coming off the compressor it has too meanings, the compressor is froze or the start relay is bad. I ohmed the compressor and had no open wires in the compressor. I then shook the relay and it was making noise. The videos stated that is there is a noise in the relay it is bad. I found appliancepartspros.com online and found the parts I needed. They sent them to me in 1.7 days. Great service. I received the right, but wrong parts. Right because they matched the on line parts diagram but wrong because they were not for the compressor that was installed. My LG had a Embraco compressor. Doing a little research on line I found what I needed on E Bay. I took those part numbers to AppliancePartsPros.com and they had the parts. They refunded me for the wrong parts and sent me the right parts. Again I received the new parts in 1.7 days. I plugged in the new start relay (Controller Tsd) and run capacitor on the compressor. I plugged in the refrigerator and held my breath. The fridge clicked on then the compressor started up. If this would have not worked, I was looking at replacing my compressor. All told, I spent less then $70 to fix my fridge. This was made possible by AppliancePartsPros.com. Thanks guys. One happy camper here! BIG TIP: See what compressor you have in the fridge. LG in the same model put different compressors in this fridge. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH THIS OUTFIT. GREAT TURNAROUND ON PARTS ORDERING. KEEP IT UP. Jeff B Ovalo , TX May 07, 2015 Appliance: Electrolux Refrigerator EI32AR65JS1 No cooling from refrigerator lights worked but compressor did not run Checked compressor windings - ok. Start relay looked no rattle or burning. Start capacitor seamed ok but hard to check. No 120VC to start relay at any time. Ordered thermistor, and electronic control unit. Figuring it was a bad thermistor not telling the ECU it was warm and to turn on the compressor. Or the ECU was damaged and was not sending the 120v to the compressor. Changed the thermistor first (cheapest part and as Appliance parts pros has a return policy I wanted to start there). No change. Replaced the ECU and bingo! Compressor ran and we now have a nice cold fridge. Read More... 209 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Aaron R Malakoff , TX June 12, 2016 Running but not cooling Looked up possible causes on line and found video about trouble shooting. It said to check starter cap and run relay on side of compressor. Removed both and found both were bad .ordered replacements on line from appliancePartspros.com. Installed new parts and is working properly. This repair job was on a 2012 Frigidaire refrig. You would think a refrig. Would last longer than 4 years. The original parts and the replacement parts were light weight and cheaply made. I'll probably be doing this repair job in another 4 years . Trouble shooting and the final repair will take no more than two hours. About 50$ for parts and shipping all total Read More... 47 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers
Robert R Arcadia , FL December 09, 2016 Appliance: Model FFHS2622MBL Freezer/refrigerator was not cooling About a month ago we smelled a burning plastic smell coming from the refrigerator. It had gone away after a short while so we figured it had just gotten hot underneath so I cleaned the coils and it continued to run for about a month, at which point it stopped cooling. Upon investigation I had unplugged the refrigerator and plugged it back in to listen for the compressor to come on, but all that happened was that it would run for a few seconds followed by a distinct clicking noise and then shut off. So I took the holding pin off the compressor connections and removed them from the compressor and found that the starter and run capacitor had melted and fused together so I figures this was obviously the problem, but I tested the 3 pins on the compressor to make sure it didnt burn out as well. The readings between the 3 should be 10, 6, and 4. They were all about the correct readings so I went ahead and ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros.com and in a few days they were here and it was just a quick reassemble and it was back running again better than ever! This is the 3rd time I've ordered from them and I will continue to use them for all my appliance needs. THANK YOU APPLIANCEPARTSPROS.COM!
