Description

This start device helps power the compressor on compatible refrigerators by providing initial start-up current and protecting it from overload. Replacing a weak or failed device can restore proper cooling performance and prevent nuisance compressor shutdowns.

• Supplies start boost to the compressor, then disengages for normal running
• Protects the compressor from overheating due to locked rotor or high load
• Common failure symptoms: refrigerator not cooling, clicking or buzzing at compressor, compressor trying but failing to start, intermittent cooling
• Visual clues can include heat discoloration or a burnt odor at the device

What's included: One start device assembly (start relay with integrated overload and cover, as packaged by the manufacturer) Install notes:

• Disconnect power before service; allow the compressor to cool
• Pull the old device straight off the compressor pins; note pin orientation
• Inspect and reseat the wire harness firmly; replace any heat-damaged connectors
• If the compressor won't start after replacement, further diagnosis of the compressor and run capacitor may be required
