John F Chester , NJ August 02, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHENAID KUDS02FRSS4 Excess steam release caused leaking down the front of the dishwasher Replaced Air Vent (+gasket). (Based on some googled descriptions of how.) Took out several screws in the vicinity of the vent on upper left of door. These are specialized torx screw heads. Released inner panel enough for air vent to slide out. It is held to the panel by the louvered round cover. Twist the cover to the left to remove it and the Air Vent comes loose. I tested the resistance of the old Air Vent and found it to be ~18 ohms. I had found on one site that it should be between 6 and 18 -- evidently 18 was a bit over proper function. Larry P Hoboken , GA May 16, 2018 Appliance: KitchenAid Undercounter Dishwasher KUDT03FTSS2 Our kitchenaid dishwasher was leaking water from the vent located on the top edge of the door I ordered a replacement air vent and gasket and replaced both which resolved the water leaking from the vent. The repair took no more than 30 minutes with ordinary hand tools. Both parts were in stock and arrived in 2 days as expected. Leroy H Newark , CA September 28, 2021 Appliance: KitchenAid Undercounter Dishwasher KUDS03FTSS1 Water dripping down the front of the dishwasher during wash and dry cycles This Air Vent Gasket didn't fix the water dripping problem! The real problem was the Air Vent assembly, with its built in Wax Motor! The Air Vent includes a wax motor that is supposed to close the vent during the wash cycle and for several hours after the dry cycle has finished, according to the information sheet located in a plastic bag, behind the kick panel below the dishwasher door. The wax motor wasn't closing the Air Vent at all and hot steam from the wash and dry cycles was escaping from the Air Vent, and condensing under the front edge of our granite counter, and dripping down the front of the dishwasher, onto the floor. My Air Vent is located on the top edge of the door. The dishwasher works great now, and no water is dripping down the front of the dishwasher and onto the floor. I was disappointed with your Air Vent Gasket video. Nothing mentioned about using Vinegar on a rag to remove the calcium buildup on both sides of the door, after the air vent and the air vent grille is removed. The Air Vent Gasket needs a clean surface to seal properly. Read More... 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers

Paul S Middletown , DE March 21, 2022 Air vent on KitchenAid dishwasher Replaced the vent and gasket with new ones. A word of warning. The electrical connections are different on the new one and wouldn't fit. I was able to use the old switch on the new one but also took the rubber boot off the new one to replace the old one. (A little tricky) If I didn't do this I would have had to wait on a new electric harness as well but already had the dishwasher apart. Tested and all seem to work fine. Read More...
