Neil D Centerbrook , CT January 14, 2017 Kitchenaid dishwasher leaking on bottom left of door First tried replacing the seal around the door as that was the simple and most logical fix. Still leaked. Removed the front and upper panel to inspect. Found calcium deposit running down from under the Air Vent Assembly and wet behind the black stick-on insulation. Easy to trace the leak to the bottom of the door. => Ordered new Air Vent Assembly, gasket and Vent Deflector. Parts arrived. Took 5 minutes to remove upper panel. Removed the two wires from the Air Vent Assembly. Inserted a screwdriver head into the slot on the Vent Deflector and needed a small hammer to get it to rotate out … COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Gotta give it a few good hits to get it to move about a quarter turn to release the Air Vent Assembly on the outer side. Cleaned the area. Inserted the new gasket into the Air Vent Assembly. Used hammer again to get the Vent Deflector to rotate clockwise into position and lock in the Air Vent Assembly. Reconnected the two wires. Replaced the upper panel. Ran the dishwasher … NO LEAK. Entire job took about 20 minutes. Read More... 83 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers

John F Chester , NJ August 02, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHENAID KUDS02FRSS4 Excess steam release caused leaking down the front of the dishwasher Replaced Air Vent (+gasket). (Based on some googled descriptions of how.) Took out several screws in the vicinity of the vent on upper left of door. These are specialized torx screw heads. Released inner panel enough for air vent to slide out. It is held to the panel by the louvered round cover. Twist the cover to the left to remove it and the Air Vent comes loose. I tested the resistance of the old Air Vent and found it to be ~18 ohms. I had found on one site that it should be between 6 and 18 -- evidently 18 was a bit over proper function.
