W J Panama City Beach , FL February 26, 2023 Appliance: Maytag Washer MVWC565FW1 Agitator drive failed I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. It was very difficult to remove the old one. Replaced the agitator. Installing the new one was a breeze. Rick N North Liberty , IN March 15, 2024 Appliance: Maytag Washer MVWC565FW1 The drive hub had stripped out and washer would not spin. Had to remove the agitator and I broke it. It was stuck to the shaft. Once it was removed the drive hub was exposed. Removed the screws and waited for parts. Installed the parts and recalibrated the washer with the help of Youtube. Charles A Springfield , OH December 03, 2023 Excessive noise while spinning for a few months then the agitator stopped working. Replaced the gear box and agitator. Obviously there were two problems. An internal gearbox problem causing the noise but the washer was still functional so I kept putting it off. Then the splines for the agitator and gearbox connection started to slip.
