Alice F El Dorado , KS December 13, 2014 Appliance: Model KITCHEN AID K5SS My kitchenaid k5 ss had only one speed fast! I read a few of your reviews and found that a, "Phase Control Board" may be the problem. It was! Talk about easy to install... It was super easy! I decided to order the, "Speed Control Plate" also as a precaution (Shipping was one price - and it arrived the very next day, Wow! I didn't expect that.) With my screwdriver and good lighting. I fixed it myself! My husband is still in shock. I used forceps to install the, "Speed Control Plate," because I needed something to hold the tension wire - at the bottom. I noticed the center of my old control plate was worn through. Everything works great! Youtube has wonderful videos to help. Thank you again, Alice F. John M Lake Orion , MI November 26, 2018 Appliance: Whirlpool 4 1/2 Qt. Stand Mixer Classic - Tilt K45SSAC-0 No stir or slow speed on older (mid 1980s) Kitchenaid would go to "high" as soon as it was turned on I bought the 3 components- Speed Control Plate, Speed Governor, and Phase Control Board after researching what components could be the culprit of the issue. I started out by replacing the speed control board and the governor, which had no effect on the issue. I replaced the Phase Control Board and the issue was resolved. All in all about 1.5 hours of work to do all 3 parts from tear down to button-up. Pat T Coeur D'alene , ID December 13, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool 4 1/2 Qt. Stand Mixer Classic - Tilt K45SSAC-0 Would not turn on I replaced the Board-Phas and speed control plate since power was not making it to the motor. When I received the speed control plate it had nuts on the upper screws with springs, since my old one didn't have nuts I assumed that the nuts were to keep the springs on until installed. After putting it back together, I noticed that though it worked, the first two settings did nothing. Now, guys, I was desperate, OK. I downloaded the service manual and read it from front to back, and when I got to the part where you remove the speed control plate, it said to loosen the lock nuts, (lock nuts?). On the replacement speed control plate you require the nuts. I put the nuts on, adjusted the depth and we're golden. Thanks for the parts and speedy service, Pat Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
Robert C Augusta , WI April 29, 2019 Appliance: KitchenAid Portables - Stand Mixer KSM90 Stopped working speed control, was intermittent before it quit (it was going on for a while) I purchased a new speed control plate, governor, phase control board and seal. As long as I was fixing it, I just changed everything. As I was removing the old, I found one wire had broken off the control plate and had to replace the flag connector on the wire.(white wire) I followed the videos and they were great!! I would not have known about the speed control adjustments and would have taken the screws out without thinking. The repairs went easy as the video. I checked the adjustment and had the right revolutions at low and 6. However I did not have any different speed above 6. It seemed to be dragging a bit. I took off the planetary and cleaned and applied new grease, put it back together and then had the higher speeds. Magic?? Back in business!! I ordered the parts on a Tuesday morning, they were shipped within a short time, I think less than a hour and had them in my hands the next day. Hard to believe they came so fast (FED EX) I am glad I found you! Thanks!
