Christopher R Bryn Mawr , PA November 09, 2018 Appliance: Model MWM9400SW01 Water leak due to torn bellow tub seal. Luckily we planned ahead when building the laundry room, as we built a water catch basin and drain under the washer, but waking up to see 1-2 inches of water is never a good sign - even if it is contained. It appears that a sleeve of a shirt was accidentally caught between the door mechanism and the bellow seal. After a few hundred revolutions in the washer, the shirt knotted up and was torn free of its pinch - in doing so, it tore a quarter sized hole in the rubber bellow seal. This was, unfortunately hidden deep in one of the folds and took us a few washes to identify. The longest portion of this repair was the exploratory phase where I had to figure out where the leak was coming from. As everyone knows, water can travel pretty far from the point it is identified. After removing the majority of the facia I found the drip point. I immediately came to AppliancePartsPros.com to search for the part and was met with an incredibly simple video of fixing the problem. I ordered the part, it arrived the next day, and popped it right in. In total it took 50 minutes, but as I said, if I had located the leak first - it would have been 20 minutes at most - split between the removal and replacement of the seal. I called this a 2/5 on the difficulty stage as you had to carefully remove multiple parts to replace this item, but if you are even a little bit organized (are you the kind of person to throw the screws into magnetized work-bowl? or just stack them on the top of the washer?) it was pretty darn easy. Videos were fantastic. We will be back. You all saved us $1000s in repairs over the years with your outstandingly simple website, accurate and detailed repair videos and lighting fast ship. Khanh D Temple City , CA January 29, 2021 Appliance: Model WFW9550WW0- WHIRLPOOL FRONT LOAD WASHER Water leak from torn bellow. First off: Thank you for the video instruction. My washer brand: Whirlpool Duet steam front load, 10 yrs old. Persons work on this project: 3 (my husband+my daughter+me) The actual installation time: meaning the actual removal ripped bellow & install the new one, 15 minutes. Project level: easy-semi easy. BUT Understand we are not professional, we are learning for the first time how to disassemble all the parts & reassemble them following the instructional video with utmost precaution not to damage any part such as pulling or yanking hard any panel for fear of breaking anything. All that takes time. That time is about 2 hrs. Cleaning time: wash up all the parts(door, front panel, soap box, etc...), the messy floor where water leaked. This takes 1hr 30 minutes. Dry time: 30 minutes Tip: *A lot of elbow grease: for cleaning & washing, I made up my own solution: 2-3 TBSP Dawn dishwashing liquid+1/2 cup Borax or Baking soda+ 2-3 cups vinegar+ 1 cup hot water. Just eyeball it, don’t need to be precise. If you use Borax, this powder solidifies once it hits a liquid, just use the back of a spoon to smash it up & you are good to go. *Label where all the screws were removed from, it speeds up the reassembling. I gave that job to my kid so she can learn too. Total time on this project: 4 hrs 30 minutes If you are planning to take this on as a good project to teach your kids, give yourself at least 3-4 hrs, have an extra person to help move/clean things to speed up a bit. You can do it! We did! Now my kid learns not to overload the washer! It is a real pain to replace the new part but it is a good project. We decided to go with Appliancepartspros because it is sold as a genuine Whirlpool part, cost more but we are hoping it lasts longer & better than the cheaper off-brand parts. Amber B Hot Springs , AR March 12, 2014 Appliance: Model KENMORE FRONT LOAD WASHER Water was leaking out the front of the washing machine. Removed the bellow (washer seal) and installed a new one. The removal and install process was very easy. I watched a diy video on how to perform the repair prior to starting the project myself. I only had to remove the bottom panel and open the door. All repairs were performed at the front of the washer using only a screwdriver.
