First off: Thank you for the video instruction.
My washer brand: Whirlpool Duet steam front load, 10 yrs old.
Persons work on this project: 3 (my husband+my daughter+me)
The actual installation time: meaning the actual removal ripped bellow & install the new one, 15 minutes.
Project level: easy-semi easy.
BUT
Understand we are not professional, we are learning for the first time how to disassemble all the parts & reassemble them following the instructional video with utmost precaution not to damage any part such as pulling or yanking hard any panel for fear of breaking anything. All that takes time. That time is about 2 hrs.
Cleaning time: wash up all the parts(door, front panel, soap box, etc...), the messy floor where water leaked. This takes 1hr 30 minutes.
Dry time: 30 minutes
Tip:
*A lot of elbow grease: for cleaning & washing, I made up my own solution: 2-3 TBSP Dawn dishwashing liquid+1/2 cup Borax or Baking soda+ 2-3 cups vinegar+ 1 cup hot water. Just eyeball it, don’t need to be precise. If you use Borax, this powder solidifies once it hits a liquid, just use the back of a spoon to smash it up & you are good to go.
*Label where all the screws were removed from, it speeds up the reassembling. I gave that job to my kid so she can learn too.
Total time on this project: 4 hrs 30 minutes
If you are planning to take this on as a good project to teach your kids, give yourself at least 3-4 hrs, have an extra person to help move/clean things to speed up a bit.
You can do it! We did! Now my kid learns not to overload the washer! It is a real pain to replace the new part but it is a good project. We decided to go with Appliancepartspros because it is sold as a genuine Whirlpool part, cost more but we are hoping it lasts longer & better than the cheaper off-brand parts.
