Whirlpool WP8572205 Dishwasher Touch Pad Control Panel Overlay OEM Part

Our dishwasher quit working again for the 3rd time recently. We researched on You Tube for similar issue, and possible fixes. We had power to the overlay so we ruled out a thermal fuse as most possible problem. Some mode lights would come on when pushed. Tried a self diagnosis test-nothing. Reset circuit breaker-nothing. We had replaced the overlay once two years ago so thought this time it might be a Interconnect Board or a Electronic Board. After consulting with a rep (thank you Joyce) on the phone from AppliancePartsPros we decided to order all three parts and hope that it was one of them that was bad. Parts arrived in just two days, amazing!! I changed the Interconnect Board, still not working. Next decided to change the Overlay Board "again" and that fixed the problem. Not sure why the OLB went bad again for third time. Will keep new parts for now in case of future issues! Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) please take note, your Overlay Boards evidently are cheaply made!! First one lasted 9 yrs, second one barely two! Lets see how long the third one lasts!!

I ordered a new keypad from AppliancePartsPros.com and installed it. It was pretty easy, just unscrew the front panel, unplug the old keypad, plug in the new one, put everything back into place and replace the screws. Much cheaper than having to buy a new dishwasher, and I made the repair myself! Delivery of the product was fast and I had the dishwasher up and running in 15 minutes!

I unscrewed the panel on the inside then disconnected the electronics ribbon. Performed a test with my multimeter based the schematics on what each button should be send a signal to the corresponding ribbon wire. Found that the old panel was not working properly. Service technician was going to charge $93 for the part and $145 for the labor. I ordered through AppliancePartsPROS.com and got the part in 2 days ( I ordered after 3p so lost that and the next day) Part came as described and works wonderfully. I am very happy. Dishwasher finished it's usual cleaning cycle and suddenly stopped working all together. No sign of life whatsoever on the control panel. After doing a few YouTube searches and studying the troubleshooting guide that is stored on the unit under the kick plate the diagnosis led to the push-button control panel. The panel itself and the flex cable that leads from it to the control board are made of a "poly-flex" flexible circuit material. The poly-flex I/O cable attachment was not connectorized and appeared to be simply glued to the main push button control panel poly-flex. This bond failed and the connection let go entirely as evidenced by the detachment of the flex cable that leads to the control board. What a terrible design for a cable connection, and an easily preventable failure mode!! Door switch and latch were also worn so I replaced those too while I was in there. I ordered replacement parts through Appliance Parts Pros and had them the next day - excellent order fulfillment experience and reasonable prices compared to competitor offerings.

Took three different parts, fuse? nope. Circuit board? nope. finally display panel? yep. All tolled, about $290 in new parts, but now it's all new. Very easy to install all parts on this dishwasher. All you need is a screwdriver with the right bit.
