James F Paltine , IL December 19, 2014 Appliance: Model JENN AIR The burner failed to light I replaced the old burner with the new burner assembly which included the ignighter. The screw that held the old ignighter was frozen into the old burner such that just the ignighter could not be replaced. Be care full removing the screws to the burner as they also may be frozen and tend to snap off instead of unscrewing. You will need to drill an tap new holes. David N San Jose , CA September 20, 2014 Spark but no fire You will need a special "star" socket driver for this process. You can find it at any auto parts retailer, I got mine at the AutoZone. First unscrew the 2 "star" screws and unplug the igniter lead from the old burner then plug the igniter lead into the new burner igniter and re-screw the new burner back on the range. It was a very easy swap out process. In the process, I broke one of the screw... this is the hard part of all trying to remove the broken screw. Remember to soak the screws with W40 before you remove them (at least 5 minutes each) wiggle the screw while introducing the W40, when the rust broke loose screw can be removed like a snap. Without the broken screw I would say it will take you about 10 to 15 minutes to replace all 5 burners. The range is now look and work just like new. Raymond G Hayward , CA June 01, 2014 Appliance: Model JENN AIR COOKTOP MODEL:JGC8536ADS A burner would not light Replaced the burner assembly (burner with igniter). The most time consuming part was getting the old burner off. The screws broke and had to be drilled out. Once that was done, putting the new burner in was a breeze. I want to compliment your customer service dept. because, as a California resident and my part not arriving the next day as advertised, they waived the shipping and handling charge. Very generous. Andrew G Everett , WA July 17, 2014 The ignitor failed on the burner of my gas slide in downdraft jenn air range and was shorting out too low to spark the gas The screws were corroded and seized, so I ended up having to drill them out and break off the heads to remove the old burner. Once the old burner was removed, the repair consisted of only swapping one wire and installing two new screws. Would have been a 5-minute fix had the original equipment been in better condition. With the new burner with ignitor attached, the repair was relatively simple and works great now. I probably could have just replaced the ignitor but removal of the entire burner was still necessary, I may have had the same trouble with the screw holding the ignitor, and it was dirty and in poor condition. It looks and works much better with the whole new assembly. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
