Christopher J Hoffman Estates , IL February 26, 2016 Appliance: KitchenAid Microwave Hood Combo KHMS2050SBL1 The keypad would make entries on its own at anytime and once the microwave started itself it continued to get worst over weeks a beep almost every hour it was like a ghost I replaced the keypad entry and it fixed the problem for 24 hours, but then it beeped and entered 0. But is much better than it was. I am an electronics tech and I know through the yrs 2000-2010 there were a rash of bad capacitors produced. I now believe a second board which has these capacitors is the source of the problem. I also believe the second board let voltage spikes through which slowly damaged the keypad board. My goal is to order the capacitors which cost less than a $1 each and replace them. I have had success doing this on other household electronics. I should also note that I purchased a door top hinge 'screw' because I broke it trying to remove it. There is a keeper that needs to be slid back instead of trying to unscrew the screw. Someone needs to make a youtube video on how to remove this door. All the screws are Torx. Douglas Z Champlin , MN February 22, 2017 Appliance: KitchenAid Microwave Hood Combo KHMS2050SSS2 Microwave kept pushing it's own buttons I ordered the Electronic Control Panel (p/n: AP6012104). Once I figured out how to remove the door and remove the panel I replaced the ECP with a very simple wire harness connection. All the screws I had to remove used the same torx driver so that was the only tool I had to use. I recommend also purchasing the Door Screw (p/n AP4299718) because it can break very easily when removing or re-installing (TRUST ME!) and will delay your repair. FYI - The first ECP I was sent was defective - it didn't function when I plugged it in. AppliancePartsPros customer service immediately shipped me a replacement and I didn't have to return the first one - no questions asked - no extra shipping charge. I will do business here again.
