Mark M Middleport , NY December 30, 2016 Convection fan wasn't working Replaced the fan unit. This one might be a little tricky for a beginning DIYer, but it is very straight forward like most appliance repairs. In general this applies to all Whirlpool brands. To remove the old fan unit you have to disconnect the power, take the back off, remove the protective cover for the fan and disconnect the wires, taking note of where they came from. Then remove the oven door by lifting it off. Remove oven racks and you should be able to access the mounting cover for the unit. It has six screws showing, usually you only have to remove 3 @ 10:00, 2:00, 6:00 and the unit can be removed. These screws might be a little hard to get out. Replace the fan unit on the removed assembly, taking care to use the same holes for the new fan. Once the new fan is assembled to the mounting plate you can replace it in the holes, using the fan mounting screws to hold it in place while the fan assembly mounting screws are put in, use a small amount of anti-seize lubricant to make removal easier next time, only partially thread them in until all 3 are matched & then tighten them up just past snug being careful not to strip the holes or heads of the screws. Re assemble the oven, reassemble the wiring, being careful not to touch any wiring, plug the stove in. Test the convention fan by selecting a setting that will activate the fan. After confirming the fan works, again being very careful to avoid any open wires or terminals unplug the stove & replace the remaining covers. Try not to leave any screws out, otherwise the stove could pick up a rattle when the fan is used. All in all, once you've done it once you'll be all set for future repairs. - MMMisso Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
