Robert B Eben Junction , MI June 05, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGN2000PW0 Dryer flame would go out after a few minutes Purchased, Igniter Kit, Gas Valve Coil Kit, and as a precaution Thermal Fuse and Cutoff-Tml. Was pretty confident the problem was the gas valve coil, but figured that why not just replace the other items while I had the unit apart. Researching and utilizing this site certainly helped me out in figuring what the problem may be. Watched the instruction videos which were very detailed and helpful. The replacement and repair was not that difficult and the work was done rather quickly. Doing this work also gave me the chance to clean out and vacuum up years of dust and dirt. My machine is working like new and I figure I saved a lot by not going out and purchasing a new dryer. Appliance Parts Pros is a great site in which I would highly recommend anyone to visit in order to repair there own machine and save themselves from just buying a new appliance.........Thanks guys Read More... 25 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
William S Culver City , CA January 17, 2015 Would run regulate cycle and could see gas light but dryer wouldn't keep hear in for long Dryer was turning the heat off prematurely. I pulled it out from the wall and opened the back to make sure there were not any not venting problems (which there weren't). On a hunch, I ran the dryer away from the wall and the unit seemed to start working. While I was able to finish the week's laundry, having the dryer in the middle of the kitchen wasn't ideal. I was able to diagnose my problem as a bad thermostat because the dial would advance and the gas would light. I had previously used appliancepartspros.com to fix this dryer when the gas valve solenoids went bad so I was pretty sure it wasn't those new parts. I found videos on how to test the thermostats but as I don't have an electric griddle, I couldn't test if the high limit and cycling thermostats were failing too early. But that was my theory as the unit only worked with more airflow around the thermostats. This an old unit I inherited from the previous tenant and decided that 60 bucks in parts was a better investment than a new dryer. After installing the parts, which came promptly, I buttoned up the dryer and moved into its normal location and it worked flawlessly. Videos are great. I wish there were videos on how to test the part as well. They exist on other YouTube channels but it would save time to have them all in one place. Bruce B Harbor City , CA December 13, 2014 Dryer was not staying heated I went to You Tub, typed in the situation: Dryer not staying hot. Next, I watched approx. 5 videos. Here's a point to think about, not all videos share the same information. The basic ideas are there, but understanding of the component's function was missing in several videos. It is important to think critically about how the dryer's mechanisms operate and how they contribute to the dryers cycles. My experience with thermostats in auto and house lead to me understanding the dryer has a thermostat in the exhaust portal. IT HAS A TEMPERATURE RANGE, same as in a car, telling the igniter when to lite. If the part is worn out, then it does not have ability to detect temperature variation, and stays "Off." This is not good! Instead of getting too cheap, I simply replaced the thermostat and coil kit-Appliance Parts Pro delivered the parts within 24 hrs. Great place to do business!!! Staff really understands and has access to information mechanically. I also replaced few more parts than required, just to insure that dryer is like new. I was saving much more than buying local it made sense to spend a portion on additional parts to insure desired performance 'out the gate'.
