Denise D Frederick , MD January 28, 2017 Appliance: KitchenAid Undercounter Dishwasher KUDS30FXSS1 The bottom dishwasher rack was rusting and needed to be replaced I ordered a replacement part from AppliancePartsPros.com, however the exact part for my Kitchen Aid dishwasher had been discontinued. There were two differences between the original and replacement part. First, the original rack had two adjustable tine rows, but the replacement only had one. I was only able to attache one of them to the new rack. This didn't present any issue other than having less flexibility in customizing the configuration for loading large items on the rack. The second issue was a bit more problematic, but I devised a solution. My original rack had 2 silverware baskets, one large one that fit inside the rack and a small one that clipped to the outside of the rack. The replacement rack was intended to fit one large rack only. The corner of the original rack was shaped differently to allow the smaller basket to attach with clips onto the outside of the rack. I frequently use the smaller basket for taller utensils because the spray arm doesn't reach that far and interfere with the wash cycle. The replacement rack had sufficient room to place the smaller basket inside the rack but I couldn't clip it in place because the rack was not deep enough to allow the clips to reach the side rails of the rack. So I used 2 plastic zip ties to secure the smaller basket in place. Without the smaller basket in place, my original large silverware basket shifted around because it was too short to span the entire depth of the rack. I also found the online video EXTREMELY helpful when making the repair. The online chat also assisted me when ordering the replacement part to discover that it was the correct replacement part even though it was shaped differently in the one corner. Yuriy M Mountain View , CA May 15, 2015 Appliance: Model KENMORE ELITE DISHWASHER Rusty racks crumbling silverware basket obstructed discharge valve clogged mesh on the food grinder Just replaced the things. Had to reuse old tine rows, rollers, the spray arm, etc., i.e. I removed 'em from the old racks and put on the new ones, but that was piece of cake. Also, I cleaned the food grinder and the discharge valve compartment (thank you very ???? ???? much, Internet), so spray arms around the top rack get enough water pressure now. I didn't have to buy any parts for the latter part of this little repair project, though. Jon T Fairview , TX October 03, 2016 Appliance: Model 665.16269400 Dish racks were rusting Order parts and replace. When removing attachments, do them one at a time and install them on new rack as you go. Watch for the small release tabs on the attachments (baskets, rollers and tine holders), "gently" put pressure to release; remember these units have been in hot water and they are brittle. John J West Jordan , UT December 04, 2017 Appliance: Model KENMORE 665.13113K700 Our upper and lower dishwasher rack tines were rusting out time to replace them. Lower Rack: The fix was fairly easy, only challenge (minor) was making sure the wheels were put on the lower rack correctly. We did find that the new wheels provided tended to bind in the rear when pushing the tray in, We replaced the new wheel set (rear wheels only) with the wheels from the old set and it works fine now. Hopefully no rust for several years. Upper Rack: This required a little more work in that the wheels and the center spray assembly needed to be pulled from the old unit and installed on the old. The wheel set removal required a star type screwdriver. Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
