Wm B Monkton , MD June 12, 2014 Appliance: Model NO PLATE ON MY RANGE ANYWHERE Maytag double oven range front right 'hi low' burner outer element burned out Range has no model ID plate anywhere. Flip off electric at circuit breaker box. Opened top of range and noted details of the faulty burner, including confirm that outer coil was fried. The maker info on back of element was useless in finding replacement: more useful was general shape, and the numbers around edge on back. Close up range, since low heat element still working. Turns out all Maytag double oven Gemini ranges use the same hi-low element, but double check appearance just in case. Found comparable part and ordered. Again opened top; loosened clips and released old element WITHOUT UNPLUGGING CONTACTS. Install new element with clips. New burner order of wire attach is different, but figured out what leads went to Hi and which to Low by tracing them into the inside of the burner. Transfer wires to new burner: A black jumper wire gets lost in the moves, as a hard-wired contact has been added to the new junction box. Larry M North Little Rock , AR December 07, 2015 Appliance: Model MER6770 WITH SOME FOLLOWING LETTERS Dual heating element outer ring not working on maytag gemini Removed the element and confirmed visually that there was a burned out gap in the outer ring. Ordered new element from Appliance Parts Pros, after livechatting with them to confirm the part number. The part arrived quickly—great turnaround service. I was a little confused by the wiring at first, because it is not exactly the same as the part I replaced. There are three electrical tabs on the side of the element. One for the inner ring only, one for the outer ring only, and one that serves both rings. On the old part, a black jumper wire from the temperature probe was cold-pressed to the middle tab, which served both rings. On the new part, the tab that serves both rings is moved from the middle and the black jumper wire is replaced by a hard metal connection to the temperature probe. So, one must inspect the old part and the new part to see which tab serves only the outer ring, and which tab serves only the inner ring, and connect the wires accordingly. It's a small difference, but getting it right it makes a difference. Otherwise the switch will be very confused, like I was when I started this process. Altogether, good experience, top marks for Appliance Parts Pros, who delivered promptly, at a good price, and helped walk me through the installation process via livechat. I'll use them again. Theodore L Madison , CT July 22, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Self Cleaning Free Standing Electric Range MER5770AAB Inner element of dual element burner failed Ordered a replacement burner. The stove is 15 years old, Maytag, so I went with the original Whirlpool part. Two screws on either side of the stove, exposed when the oven door is open, are all that you need to remove the cook top. However, when I installed the replacement burner I discovered the following: 1. The replacement burner has no divider between the smaller and larger element, and the thermostat is different (no issue); 2. The terminals on the thermostat have been relocated! 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b are in a different place on the new burner, making it necessary to lengthen the wire from the stove top harness connector pin 1 to the burner, and to stretch the daisy chain wire serving the "hot" indicator. So, when you are doing this job for an older stove, be sure to check your labeling on the terminals, and be prepared to do some splicing. Be sure to use high temperature rated wire and splices! Joann W San Jose , CA August 25, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Electric Range MER6770AAW Glass cooktop developed a crack I ordered a new top from AppliancePartsPros. They had a very good system for verifying that the part I ordered was the correct version for my appliance, so there were no worries. It arrived safely in a timely manner and I installed it the next day. Found directions online which worked fine. Had a little trouble getting first screws loose and then needed to buy a nut driver. All else went smoothly and I have a lovely new cooktop! The only odd thing was that they had me call them back to tell them verbally exactly what I had ordered - including adding up the numbers. Very strange and made me suspect they may be scamming me - but NOT! All went fine.
