Whirlpool WPW10509257 Door Gasket OEM Part

I thought it was the gasket so I ordered a new one. While waiting for it to arrive I read some other forums where I read that sometimes the air vent on the front could be dirty and cause leaking. I popped out that vent cover and it was clogged. Using an old toothbrush and a tiny paint brush I cleaned all of the gunk out. No more leak even with the old gasket in place. I'll save the new gasket for when I need it in the future.

I read all the information regarding the probable cause and it indicated a possible replacement of the door gasket. I Installed the gasket and cleaned the washer well but it still leaked. I only had one thing to check and that was the vent in the upper right of the washer. When opened it was full of (I assume soap residue) and cleaned it. Leaking stopped. Although the gasket was not the direct problem the old one was in poor condition and I left the new one in place.

I read review online on what could be the cause. The explanation of the cause of our dishwasher was right. Accumulation of Lime deposit in the Gasket, and water too hot. I ordered the door gasket via appliance parts pros, got it 2 days after, and it was a perfect fit. Our dishwasher is 100% fixed and I saved over $100 by not calling a repair service. It was so easy to do, i am the total novice, and took me less than 10 min. Will definitively remember this service.

I replaced the gasket but this did not fix the problem. I then discovered that the exhaust vent at the top left of the door had debris in it which was causing water to run down the inside of the door and leak out at the bottom. Once I removed this debris the leak stopped.

I went to YouTube and put in my issue and saw the video on how to replace the seals and deflectors in my dishwasher. I then spoke to a local repair guy and he said that I was on the right track on replacing those parts first. The price he gave me were pretty high on the parts. I was able to go to Whirlpool website and obtain the part codes that I need to replace and found this website to be the cheapest. Appliance parts pro. Com. It was easy to order and real easy to replace. So I replace the seal around the door and the 2 water deflectors at the base of the tub. Thank you APP.
