Raymond L The Woodlands , TX December 26, 2015 The front two electronic igniters on the stove top range stopped working I called a rpair service. The men came to the house, torn apart the stove top and advised Replacement of the wire harness. The trip charge of $100 would be deducted from a repair bill of $350, thus they needed an additional $150 for parts and $100 for labor after paying the trip charge. I bought the harness for $60, and the star bits I needed for my drill for $10. My son and I installed the new harness in about 30 minutes, which included a thorough cleanup, saving us $180. Larry L Hillsboro , OR April 08, 2015 Cleaning the stove top from time to time if the amount of water that you use and allow to wet the harness below the knobs can damage the harness components so that the spark ignition will not function Changing out the harness wire solved the problem. Best practice is to shut down power and gas for safety. A little shot of WD-40 might help loosen the screws and make them easier to remove on the burners since I needed to take the glass top off of the metal box to replace the damaged harness below. The exploded diagram found on the parts order site was helpful to see where components are but a step by step instruction would have been better but a little tinkering around and eventually the process to resolve the issue came forth. A torx driver will be needed that is not listed in the tools used to remove the burner screws. I decided that it might be best to buy a new one as it was about $800. I did some research and watched the repair video. I removed the glass top and realized it was a simple wire harness that had burned out on one valve. I ordered the part on Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday. When I got home from work the repair took me about 20 minutes from start to finish and it cost me under $50. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
