Scott T Manhattan , KS February 02, 2019 Appliance: Jenn-Air Walloven-S/C Dbl Oven Ele JJW9827DDP Jenn Air oven door won't close The doors on our double wall oven (pro model) have been sagging partially open forever. I was told by someone somewhere that replacing the hinges wouldn't help. Well, this combination of hinges and receptacles definitely works! The doors close tighter than maybe they ever did. One thing I noticed is that the receptacles are longer than the originals, which in this case is good. Because of the shape of the metal in the oven, they angle back a little more than the originals, which I think is a factor in keeping the door tight, maybe more important than new hinges. Caution: As someone else mentioned, the holes in the replacement hinges (and receptacles) are not threaded, which means you have to work a little harder to get the screws to catch and then thread through. On one of the new hinges, the old screw broke off in the hole as I was threading it in, which was a PIA. Also, at least on our oven, the existing screws were barely long enough to reach to the top screw hole on the receptacle, given the increased angle of the longer receptacle against the oven. Since the holes are not threaded, it was a bit of a challenge to get those to catch--but once they did I was able to tighten them enough for a solid hold. Replacing the receptacles does require pulling the wall oven out a little, not all the way. Replacing the hinges just required taking apart the door--easy. The project took longer because one of the the old hinges was jammed in (the little tab stop had broken), and I replaced a fan in the back of the oven at the same time, but if I didn't have those to deal with this would have been a pretty easy job, maybe under an hour. Make sure you know how to take the doors off and on. It's easy if the sliding tab locks on the hinge actually move easily to first let the hinge come out and then lock the hinge open to let you put the door back on, but the first time I took the doors off they didn't and I struggled getting the hinge out of the receptacle and then, since they didn't lock the hinge open, struggled getting them back in. Wyman H Springfield , VA February 06, 2020 Appliance: Maytag 27" Built-In Electric Oven Non-Convection JMW8527DAS28 Jenn Air 27" wall oven model #jmw8527das oven door would not completely close keeping the oven light constantly on. My wife falsely accused me of sitting on it and springing the door! After checking on-line and watching several YOUTUBE University videos on the topic, I felt I could change the hinges myself. I started a search for the Jenn-Air/Whirlpool hinge part no. WP74010283. I found that AppliancePartsPros.com had the appropriate replacement parts; and several comments from satisfied users explaining how they had successfully done the replacement job themselves. Received the replacement parts: (1) Hinge Door AP6011190 suitable replacement for WP74010283 and (2) Receptacle Hinge AP6011249 suitable replacement for WP74011337 from AppliancePartsPros. Again I watched the YouTube video. Looked easy. Made some notes and a check list. Took me one hour to complete the entire job. After lifting the locks on the hinges I removed the oven door and set it on a furniture pad on the kitchen island. Heads up, the oven door and oven are dirty. So plan to clean the door and the exposed oven with grease cutting hot soapy water. Then followed the directions for removing the bottom plate and the two left and right hinges. Kept the screws in a convenient keeper. You only need a phillips-head screw driver. Replaced the right hinge. The new hinges and the actual oven door when exposed have sharp edges; recommend using workman gloves for protection and grip. The screws are also hard to get in due to tolerances and need firm tightening. You can do it, use some muscle! After getting the hinges installed in the oven door, you can now hang it back on the oven. Recommend holding the door upright in the almost closed position, inserting the hinges, pushing DOWN slightly to reset on the internal hinge pins. Once the door is set, try closing it to make sure it fits correctly. Then push the locks up to secure the door. As I said it took me one hour. Most of that was cleaning and making sure I was proceeding correctly. If I were an appliance repair guy and had done this before, I could have done it in 15 minutes and charged an hour! I did not have to use the Hinge Receptacle parts. Not sure why I ordered them. Also this helped to avoid having to remove the oven from the wood cabinet. So easy a Caveman could do it.
