Whirlpool WP35001084 Drum Support Roller Retainer OEM Part

At first I thought it was the dryer belt. The drum would spin freely with no resistance. I went to Youtube to find a instructional video on how to change the belt. After a few short steps on had access to the dryer belt. To my dismay it wasn't the belt at all. I realized after doing a quick inspection that the idler wheel used to put tension on the belt had broken and was causing the issues. I found the matching idler wheel on AppliancepartsPros.com, ordered it and had it the next day......read AWESOME. I had everything up and running in about 30 minutes. While I had the unit torn apart I will add that I cleaned out excessive piles of lint. I strongly encourage you to do the same. Overall it was a super easy job. I'm sure I saved BIG $$$. Appliance repair can get EXPENSIVE if you let somebody else do it!

Watched the repair video to help me identify the problem, ordered the part, replaced the part, reassembled the machine. Part was ordered at 3:00 pm on one day and was delivered the next day! Part was exactly what I needed.

The belt had come off, triggering the 'broken belt' switch. Found the tensioner pulley had melted from seizing on the mounting shaft, causing the belt to come off. Replaced the tensioner pulley and retainer. Not knowing much about appliances, it took me longer to figure out how to get it apart and diag the problem, than it did di to actually repair it. I put the machine back together and was able to reach the and replace the broken part by removing the dryer vent tube from the back.

The repair was very simple with a 1/4 nut driver, adjustable wrench, 15mm combination wrench, and a couple of screwdrivers. The drum support rollers completely failed and the idler wheel for the belt was locked. I referenced the repair video which made it very simple. It took about 1 hour total to repair and while it was apart I cleaned out all the internal vents and fan blades. It is super quiet again and working like new.

The dryer had power, but didn't run. It would make a "click" and do nothing. We suspected the belt was out. After watching the very helpful videos we were brave enough to open up the dryer and see what we were in for. The belt was intact but we immediately noticed that the idler wheel had come off. It looked as if the bearing had failed and the whole wheel (and retainer clip) had melted away. Gross! The arm was just fine, so we replaced the wheel and the clip and applied liberal amounts of WD-40 for extra bearing lubrication. The videos are very well done and incredibly helpful when braving an appliance repair yourself. Thank you!
