Steve B Ann Arbor , MI May 26, 2015 No panel lights (no error codes) dryer would not start (light on inside when door is opened) Replacing the control board was relatively easy, transferring the cover was the most challenging part. The one hard part of removing the cover was releasing "quad" finger plastic tabs holding the rotary dial trim piece to the old control board. On the old control board, I had to remove the "miniboard" screwed to the main part of the control board, directly behind the rotary knob. Flexing all four tabs at the same time was nearly impossible, but I used a deep 5/8 socket to depress all of them at the same time and release them. Once the finger tabs were depressed, the trim piece separated. I was able to mate the new control board and the cover pretty easily, without doing any disassembly. I'd recommend to double/triple check that all the tabs are clipped in before you reinstall the assembly. (I missed one and had to remove it and reinstall) Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
Barbara B Centreville , VA August 07, 2016 Appliance: Model WHIRLPOOL DUET DRYER Bad interface board I replaced the interface board after reading the comments on this page that helped me pinpoint the problem. Special thanks to the customer with the idea to use a 5/8in socket to hold the four prongs to remove the control knob. That was a useful trick. I'm a single mom of four and on a tight budget. This repair saved me tons and my dryer is working like brand new. Fyi I used a tiny flathead to remove the star screws, it worked fine. Read More... Robert K Bolivar , MO October 01, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Electric Dryer GEW9250PW1 When dryer was turned on front panel did not light Replaced the electronic control board. The tool needed is a 5/16 nut driver, remove the three hex-screws on the back top and slide the top back an inch and lift up to remove the top. Remove the three hex-screws on the left and lift up carefully this gives access to wire connection and the two hex-screws on the left side holding the front control board. Remove the two remaining screws on the right, disconnect the wiring harness and remove the front. The control board is held in with plastic tabs pry them loose carefully and replace with new board. The new control board comes with all gray buttons I replaced them with the colored buttons from the old board. Put back together in reverse order. Read More...
