Tom J East Greenwich , RI August 31, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MBF2258XEW3 Ice maker stopped working A bit of online research and some component testing narrowed my issue down to either a faulty ice maker or a bad supply valve. Appliance Parts Pros had both of these, at reasonable prices, so I purchased and replaced both items. I recommend watching online videos to get a sense of what to do, and how to go about doing it. The repairs were relatively easy, other than this being a bottom freezer model hence the ice maker was difficult to access: I removed the freezer door (four screws) to get closer, but never did figure out the slide-out shelf/basket component removal. I wish I had a magnetized nut driver for all the times I dropped the ice maker screws! At least the water valve was an easy swap. Matt P Alameda , CA October 22, 2016 Whirlpool water inlet valve Ice maker stopped making ice. Searched for troubleshooting guides and how-to videos. The main two issues seem to typically be water inlet valve or ice maker motor. You can test both without removing either part (just face plate/panels). I found info about continuity testing the parts, that for the ice maker, testing L and M (motor) should be a high ohm value, mine was 6k, the site I read said could be as high as 10k, and testing L and H (heater) 60 - 90 ohm. Not the ice maker this time... Read that the inlet valve should have a reading over 500 ohm, mine was less than 200. Checked my water pressure, all good. Bought the inlet valve, installed, and within 2 hours, the sweet sound of ice being made and new inlet valve filling the tray was music to my ears. The repair is very fast, it's the reading up on trouble shooting that took the time, hopefully these details save you time! Ron A Lexington , SC September 10, 2018 Appliance: Model WHIRLPOOL WRF535SMBM00 Ice maker not making ice. Ordered ice maker and valve. Parts came in less than one day! I believe only ice maker was broke, but couldn't prove valve worked by shorting terminals on ice maker front panel. I realized later the fridge wasn't sending power to ice maker due to some condition (door needed to be closed maybe?). Recommend spending time to remove door and shelves to better get to the ice maker, which is difficult to reach screw locations. Dropping screw in ice maker forced me to undo everything to fish it out. Everything worked fine after replacing ice maker and valve. New ice maker seemed higher quality than original ice maker. New ice maker came with everything but the screws to attach it to inside of freezer. Took me awhile but i'm not that mechanically inclined.
