Guy S Longmont , CO September 12, 2014 Appliance: Model MBD7760AWS1 The dishwasher door would not close due to the electronic latch mechanism was stuck closed due to power outage I ordered the Maytag Latch-Door mechanism and was able to get a service manual from appliancepartspros.com. I followed instructions, disconnected power FIRST, and removed the inner door panel screws and the inner and outer doors came apart. I was then able to disconnect the power leads to the electronic latch door mechanism and remove the whole assembly. The assembly was loosely attached to the inside of the outer door by plastic posts and squeeze levers. I compared the OEM part with the replacement part (they were identical) except that the replacement part was in the OPEN position. I was able to use a small screwdriver to manually cycle the mechanism on the OEM latch back to put it back in the OPEN position. I put the assembly back in and re-connected the power leads and screwed the doors back together. It did take some time to "fit" everything back together. I turned the power back on and EUREKA, the door now closes and latches as it should. I ran a dish wash cycle and it appears normal. Now there is another part to the door latch mechanism that is attached to the TOP of the dishwasher, under the counter. It would involve removing the dishwasher from the counter to access this part. I did not do this. I was concerned that the control board was fried due to a power surge but the dishwasher now seems to work normally. The part I ordered, Latch Door Assembly, only has a micro switch on it so it now seems unlikely that an electrical surge would damage this part and not the computer control board. I think the power surge just caused the Latch Door Assembly to "flip" to the closed position and it was stuck and needed manual "input" from the screwdriver. Thomas S Meriden , KS May 01, 2020 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher MDB7749AWW2 Broken door handle on Maytag dishwasher First of all, I should have taken it apart before I ordered parts. I thought all I needed was the handle and the door latch assembly. Ordered those parts and received them in 2 days. I soon found that there was another issue. The front panel has 2 plastic latches that the handle snaps in to. It also has a plastic stud that the handle screws to. One latch and the stud were broken. Then I ordered just the front panel - the plastic part that has the buttons and led lights. It arrived the next day. Be sure to turn off the breaker to prevent surprises! There are about 10 #15 Torx screws that hold the the door together. I removed them, unplugged 2 wires from the door latch and removed it. It's made of springy steel and just snaps out. The handle just fell out. The only tricky part was figuring out how to remove the electronics from the old panel. I used needle nose pliers to remove the ribbon cable and found 2 small plastic catches on the left side of the control assembly. I pulled them back with a small, straight screwdriver, slid the whole unit to the left and lifted it out. (You don't have to remove any other wires.) Next, attach the ribbon cable from the new front panel to the control unit and snap the unit back in place. Snap the handle into the front panel first and then use a 1/4" nut driver to install the screw that holds it. Then snap in the new door latch, reattach the 2 wires and all that is left is to screw the door back together. It was actually pretty easy, took about 25 minutes. I've never tried anything like this before. If I can do it, anyone can. Karen Y Summerland Key , FL November 07, 2015 Appliance: Model KENMORE ELITE Flashing lights on the front panel of a dishwasher Called appliance parts pro & the lady on the phone was very helpful. We decided it was either a faulty latch or a control panel. She gave part #'s & prices for all. I started with the latch kit. She said if that didn't work I could return it. The part came 3 days later. It worked! Saved me from buying a new dishwasher.
