Lynden B Benicia , CA December 17, 2019 Appliance: Jenn-Air Dishwasher JDB8000AWS3 Jenn airJDB8000AWS3 dishwasher would not drain Dishwasher washer would not drain after hearing glass-like particles during the drain cycle despite trying to clean the cylinder filter. Originally suspected the drain motor was damaged. After watching a video on how to replace the drain pump, I carefully energized the dishwasher (from water and electricity) then removed the dishwasher to take a look. After removal of drain hose from the pump, discovered that drain hose was connected to water inlet assembly which also needed removal to completely remove the drain hose. During this disassembly, discovered that water was also leaking from fill hose, drain hose and/or water which caused stains on the insulation blanket. Leaking water here explained why I had water damage on the inside of the cabinet where the dishwasher was located. So I decided to replace fill hose, drain hose, inlet assembly and gasket, nut-tube (which secures inlet assembly and gasket), insulation blanket and pump drain. Used vise grip pliers to safely pinch clamps and a large adjustable wrench for nut-tube. Recommend watching inlet assembly video too. Noticed that the replacement insulation blanket now has a plastic liner which covers the area where the water inlet assembly is located, guessing Jenn air had a design blunder there because I suspect water can splash outside the inlet assembly during water filling mode. Anyway, after reassembly had a leak-free startup and no more drain issues. After further inspection of the old drain hose, found more broken plate pieces that obstructed the opening of the check valve in 90 deg elbow of the drain hose. They probably did not need to replace the motor but did not want to fix dishwasher a 2nd time. I also realized this is probably the most important appliance in the house as it is used once or more daily, manual dishwashing sucks with a full house with kids. I tip my hat to ApliancePartsPros for making good videos and reducing my learning curve. Mr W Burbank , CA November 19, 2018 Appliance: Model KENMORE 66512773K310 Leaking from the bottom and draining malfunction on Kenmore Elite 66512773k310 dishwasher It's still not fully fixed. The drain pump was difficult to replace as there is little clearance between the floor and the bottom of the door. Removing the door would have made the job easier. I just didn't want to do it. It's far simpler to disconnect your lines and power and pull the washer out. As for the pump removal itself, there is a PUSH tab at the top of the pump that you must push in while turning the old pump counterclockwise in order to disengage from the sump. Installing the new pump is fairly straightforward, just line it up right, push in while twisting clockwise until it clicks, less than 1/4 turn. Draining works again as it should. Half the battle, but the machine is still leaking badly. After further inspection with an endoscope, the culprit is the grommet that's connected to the diverter motor shaft and it's leaking directly out the circular bottom of that shaft on the component. Waiting for that part to arrive and replacing the diverter motor at the same time as the grommet and hopefully that will be that. I could NOT find that grommet anywhere for a good price on its own, it was only offered bundled with the entire sump assembly for $160 and up. I bought a third party grommet from AVX Seals as it's supposed to be a perfect replacement. that part is their Shaft Oil Seal TC5.5x16x8 Rubber Covered Double Lip w/Garter Spring ID 5.5mm OD 16mm 5.5x16x8 5.5 x 16 x 8 mm. A $4 part. I'll tell ya, the parts in this Kenmore are really cheap plastic. Shame on Sears putting the "Kenmore Elite" brand on a product with such cheap, flimsy parts that are so easily ruined. $1400 for this dishwasher and in less than 5 years I've spent hundreds now replacing the drain pump, diverter motor, grommet, upper tray assembly and rollers and lower tray rollers all due to cheap plastic and cheap seals that don't last. Karen H Galesburg , MI June 18, 2016 Water pump was broken on our dishwasher Our dishwasher stopped working on our Kenmore elite. I did a diagnostic and the light pattern indicated it was the water pump. I looked up the part number on the Sears website and put the number in appliance parts pros website. The part came in two days. My husband found a helpful you tube video and made the repair in less than half an hour. Great team work!
